About Our Program

Bringing home a new puppy can be a challenge.  We at Esteemed Bully strive to make the transition as easy as possible.  Everything from only the best birthing conditions, to starting them on house and crate training before you take them home, everything we do is designed to set your new puppy up for a successful transition to their new forever home.

Here is a little bit about what we do throughout the entire process of us raising your next best friend.

Dog Showing

At Esteemed Bully Kennels, we take pride in our breeding program and strive to produce dogs that meet the breed standard. That's why we participate in ABKC, CBKC and UKC shows, where we can showcase our dogs and their physical attributes. By competing in these shows, we can ensure that our breeding program is on the right track and that our dogs are of the highest quality.

Breeding

At Esteemed Bully Kennels, we take pride in our commitment to producing puppies that are healthy and well-bred. All of our dogs are health cleared, Embark tested and we take great care to match the right dogs to ensure the best fit in terms of form and function. We also strive to maintain a good level of genetic variation in our breeding program to ensure the strongest, healthiest puppies possible. We believe that all dogs should have the best start in life, and our breeding program reflects this.

Whelping

Our whelping room is sanitized completely prior to the arrival of our puppies. We prepare this room with everything we need for a successful birth. This room is set up three weeks prior to the arrival of the litter to ensure it is clean and well stocked with all the supplies and equipment required for the whelping and after care.

We also do not allow any visitors during this time, as we do not want to risk any thing as it is a crucial time for the Dam who is making all the necessary antibodies needed for the puppies delicate immune systems.

During the first two weeks, each puppy is weighed every 12 hours. Any puppy that is not gaining at an appropriate rate is given more time on the mom, or supplemented with bottle by hand.

Weaning

When it comes to weaning, it is important to make a slow transition from milk to solid food for puppies. Around the time that puppies leave the whelping box and move to the puppy pen, it is recommended to start the weaning process. Weaning should be done gradually, and it is best to use a special gruel made from milk and soft food. This will help the puppies gradually adjust to their new diet and prevent any digestive issues. It is important to provide the puppies with plenty of fresh water throughout the weaning process.

The Puppy Pen

The puppy pen is where we transition the puppies once they start moving around more and naturally learning to not pee and poop where they sleep. Once 85% of the litter is doing this consistently we move them to the pen.

During this time they are out of the whelping room and their eyes and ears have opened and they need to start becoming accustomed to the sights, smells and sounds of our home. They are raised on the main floor of our house as to always be a part of the action.

We start crate and house training as well to ensure an easier transition for both the puppy and their new family when they arrive home with their new best friend.

Early Brain Stimulation

Early brain stimulation is an important part of raising puppies. As a responsible dog breeder, it's important to expose puppies to a variety of sights, sounds and experiences to help them grow into well-adjusted dogs.

Desensitization, socialization and exposure to the sights and sounds of a typical household are all important components of early brain stimulation. It's also beneficial to expose puppies to large dogs and children to help them become comfortable in different social settings. By providing early brain stimulation, you can help your puppies grow into happy, healthy and well-adjusted dogs.

Additionally, this type of early brain stimulation can help puppies to develop better problem-solving skills and have better overall temperaments.
